Welcome! You have arrived at my web site.

My work until now has basically been a search for ways in which to transmit my experience of the common-place in our lives - that which life offers us with such exuberance.
I work in an intuitive way, using a language of dreams, whether it be with a pictorial or three dimensional medium.
I would like you to be my accomplice in a world of dreams, where all the sensations of life co-exist: tenderness, happiness, sadness…..

I was born in 1956, the youngest of nine children in Melilla, Spanish North Africa. At seventeen I decided to leave my home in Malaga, landing in London in the mid 70's . With my squatter friends, many artists and musicians amongst them, we led a meagre existence but breathed an atmosphere of great freedom!

I quickly found my direction, combining part time jobs with classes in ceramics and drawing. These helped me gain entrance to Camberwell shool of Art, where I studied from 1977 till 1981. I then had the good fortune to be admitted to a three year Masters at the Royal College of Art, where in the various fields of painting, ceramics, textile design, engraving etc, I could count on a number of charimatic teachers: David Hamilton, Elizabeth Fritsch, Janice Tchalenko, Eduardo Paulozzi and Alisson Britton amongst others.

Having finished my masters I was helped in setting up my first workshop with a grant from the British Craft Council, and also around this time gained invaluable experience working in the studio of Carol McNicoll and Colin Deeks.

In these years I exhibited both individually and collectively in various places, such as the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Contemporary Applied Arts, Sotheby's Decorative Arts, and Olympia International Arts Fair. At this time I also worked closely with a number of prIvate galleries, principally in Britain.

My arrival back in Spain in 1988 opened up new horizons, with individual exhibitions in Holland, Germany, France, Japan, and of course in my country of birth. It also coincided with a re-encounter with an old passion for etching and painting.

My previous ceramic pieces often had their surfaces etched with drawings of creature/personalities. With my current work, these characters now appear in etchings and canvas, or actually take form in three dimentional sculptures.

I always try to maintain a freshness in my work, which as it were unconciously
demands new modes of expression in different fields. However, whether it be an etching, painting or sculpture, my "personalities" seem to maintain a common thread through the work.

Thanks for visiting my site

have fun !
